Chapter 1: We the Travellers , I
Pack your imaginary bag , we are going on a long road trip! From Delhi to Mumbai, from Chennai to Kolkata, India is full of long highways and exciting train routes. Every trip has numbers hiding inside it: how far, how long, how much petrol, how many rupees. In this chapter we become travellers who do their maths along the way.
Travellers measure distance in kilometres and time in hours. A bus may cover 380 km in one day and 425 km the next. To know the full journey we add. If we have already covered 580 km out of 900 km, we subtract to see how much is left. These are the everyday calculations of every driver, conductor, and curious passenger.
