Volume is length times breadth times height: V = l*b*h. Total surface area is 2(lb + bh + hl). For a 5 cm by 4 cm by 3 cm box, V = 60 cubic cm and surface area = 2(20 + 12 + 15) = 94 sq cm.

How do I use the cuboid volume lab?

How do I calculate the volume of a tiffin box or a brick?

A standard Indian brick is roughly 19 cm by 9 cm by 9 cm, giving volume 19 * 9 * 9 = 1539 cubic cm or about 1.5 litres of mortar displaced. A tiffin lunch box of 15 cm * 10 cm * 5 cm holds 750 cubic cm or 750 ml. The lab lets you check any such shape.

Cube vs cuboid: how are they different?

A cube is a cuboid where all sides are equal (l = b = h). So a cube of side 4 has volume 4^3 = 64. The lab uses three sliders, so set all of them to the same number to see a cube. Otherwise you get a general cuboid like a brick or a book.
