Frequently asked questions

▶How is discount and selling price calculated?

Discount amount equals d/100 times marked price M, so the selling price is M*(1 - d/100). A Rs 2000 shirt at 25% off has discount of Rs 500 and selling price Rs 1500. The lab updates both numbers as you slide M and d.

▶How do I use the discount lab?

Slide marked price M between 100 and 10000 and discount d between 0 and 90. The lab shows the discount amount, selling price and savings. Try M = 5000 and d = 40 to see Rs 2000 saved and Rs 3000 to pay.

▶How are discounts shown in Indian sales?

Big Diwali and end-of-season sales often advertise 30% to 70% off marked price. A Rs 3500 kurta at 60% off costs only 3500 * 0.4 = Rs 1400. The lab gives instant checks so you are not fooled by tag prices.

▶Marked price vs selling price: what is the difference?

Marked price (MRP) is the printed sticker price; selling price is what you actually pay after discount. For a Rs 1000 item at 20% off, MP = 1000 and SP = 800. The lab shows both clearly so you can see how much you really save.
